Whiplash is a hyperextension-hyperflexion injury that's commonly caused by the instant acceleration-deceleration force in motor vehicle accidents. The symptoms of whiplash are the result of the sudden forward and backward jerking of the neck and head. If that jerking causes disc displacement at one more levels of your neck, and it's left untreated, you're likely to have an injury that will stay with you for life.
